EAI Covid-19 Statement

5th July – New target date for churches to recommence in-person Sunday worship.

Updated Friday 12th June 2020

Good news! The Irish government has, on advice from the public health team, accelerated the date for reopening museums, galleries and churches by 3 weeks to 29 June.

This makes Sunday 5th July the new target date for churches to recommence in-person Sunday worship.

EAI Executive Director Nick Park comments,

“This is what we have been praying for. EAI has supported a cautious exit from the lockdown, not wanting our strong desire to meet together to pose any risk to the elderly or vulnerable.

The announcement that we should be in a position to safely resume public worship is very welcome. We will, of course, have to establish appropriate physical distancing measures, but this is a day of hope. In the meantime, let’s keep praying that the rates of deaths, infections, and virus reproduction continue to fall.”
