EAI to conduct Church census.

EAI plans to conduct a comprehensive census of the Irish evangelical community in 2016.

The task of compiling information and statistics on the scale and spread of evangelicals in Ireland has historically been very difficult for a number of reasons including the following.

  • Within evangelicalism there are various other identifiers that may be adapted as the primary identifier - e.g. pentecostal, reformed, etc.
  • Many evangelicals are members of traditional established denominations and are recorded as such
  • Other evangelicals do not self-identify as such
  • Some evangelical churches and communities have limited connection with the wider church, their existence being known to relatively few.

Hence, there is an urgent need for a dedicated team to devote the time and resources necessary to compile an accurate profile. This information will be of benefit to any individual organisation wishing to connect with the evangelical community, including the media, charities, para-church organsisation that serve the church, amongst others.

More information will follow in due course but if you have any comments or suggestions or would like to make a donation towards the costs involved, please contact our office via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
